“Chut On Lit” chartered Pyramedium to create a bilingual site and integrate the Paypal payment system. With the collaboration of Ted Studios, Pyramedium quickly created and launched a site that aimed at reaching a specific part of the “Chut on Lit” target audience.
By November, the site had generated over $10,000 in monetary donations from 7 different countries, and the organization received and shipped over 700 lbs of books to orphanages in Madagascar and Cambodia.
As the organization expanded, it began to use Pyramedium's Intranet/CRM solution to manage the membership and donation inflow.
Pyramedium is looking to assist “Chut-On Lit” in its growth in 2006 as the non-profit is now looking at fundraising enough money to build a physical library at a yet to be determined orphanage.
Launching a Bilingual Web Site for “Chut On Lit”
There are times when tragic events inspire people to act and actively help others. For a group of professional women, the Tsunami that hit several Asian countries last year was the primer they needed to launch a non-profit organization named “Chut-On Lit,” which can be translated to, Quiet, we're reading.
This Paris based non-profit is dedicated to bringing books, both in English and French, to orphanages in third-world countries. The association was started in March 2005.
One of the main challenges for the association was to communicate to, and reach a large audience at a minimum cost. Also of paramount importance was the ability to receive payments online.
The association first considered several “template” websites that also included online payments, however, a quick budget analysis showed them that the transaction fees charged by these sites (on top of the usual fees) were simply too high.
